Phuket is an island located in the southern part of Thailand. It is an internationally known and celebrated tourist destination, which is connected to all parts of the world.
Air
Phuket has its own international airport and it is one of
the biggest airports in Thailand. There are flights to
Phuket from many cities in Asia and Europe. There are also
flights to Phuket from Bangkok and other parts of Thailand.
It takes about 1.20 hours to reach Phuket by air from
Bangkok. The international cities from where Phuket is
easily accessible Sydney, Penang, Singapore, Perth, Osaka,
Tokyo, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi. The airport is
just 30 kilometers away from the city.
Road
Phuket is also well connected by road. If you are driving
from Bangkok to Phuket you will have to take Highway No.4 or
Phetchakasem Road. The total distance is about 862
kilometers and it takes about ten to twelve hours.
Buses are also widely available from Phuket to Bangkok. You can find both air conditioned and non air-conditioned buses. The buses generally take 13 hours.
Train
There is no direct train service to Phuket but you can take
a train to Phun Phin Railway Station in Surat Thani Province
and then take a bus from there.
Water
As Phuket is an island, the visitors can go other islands by
taking a ferry. During the high tourist season, the teachers
can take regular ferries to Ko Phi Phi and Ko Lanta. The
ferry fares are about 300 to 500 baht.
