Transportation in Phuket, Thailand

To be very honest, Phuket does not boast of a great public transportation system. Getting a public transportation can be quite frustrating at times. Public transportation is not very inexpensive either. Phuket is a large island and if you want to explore the entire area comfortably try hiring a tuk tuk or a taxi from your hotel itself. There are regular buses connecting the main beaches in Phuket and also in the main city. Motorbike taxis are also available but they are not too safe.

The best mode of transportation in Phuket, is having a own car or a bike. With your own mode of transportation you will be able explore all parts of Phuket hassle free. All major hotels and airports have their own car rentals from where you can hire a vehicle. Motorbike rentals are all over the island.

The local buses in Phuket are known as Song Taews and these are available from seven in the morning to six in the evening. The destinations of the buses are usually written in English keeping in mind the huge tourists in this area. There are ample amount of buses from Patong beach and the town of Phuket.
